Description
Fred Morrison Scottish Smallpipes are a beautifully crafted precision musical instrument with great sound quality. Smallpipes have a softer, mellower and sweeter sound than the Highland pipes, making them ideal for playing at home or in a group setting where volume might be an issue. The fingering technique is the same as the Highland pipes and they are increasingly popular with Highland pipers who wish to enrich their piping experience by trying something new.
Fred Morrison Smallpipes are available in the keys of A, C or D.
The key of A set is pictured on these pages.
* Sterling silver mounts are also an option. Please contact us for pricing.

I received my set bellows blown ‘A’ smallpipes in October ’21 and I’m so glad I bought them. Not only do they look fantastic, they sound superb!
The tone is smooth and sweet, and they require very little pressure to play. As a newcomer to playing actual pipes,, it took only a couple of weeks of practice before I could play some slow tunes, and I’m now beginning to add some quicker ones to the mix.
In terms of volume, these are very happy in a domestic setting – they have none of the piercing characteristics of the border or GHB – and are very easy to record if that’s your thing.
100% recommended!

Great set of pipes that I had the pleasure of unboxing a few years ago for a student! Great tone, solidly built, and gorgeous. Can’t ask for much more than that!
